On 25th January, 2023, the US Embassy in Dar es Salaam issued a security alert to the US citizens and other nationals from Western countries on what was said to be planned terrorist attacks in various places of Tanzania, targeting hotels, embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, police stations, places of warship and other places frequented by Westerners. This alert caused a serious panic internally and internationally as some flights that were scheduled to Tanzania were cancelled on the fear of the said attacks.

As regard to that, the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Havana wishes to reaffirm to the international community that there exist no security threats, nor civil unrest in Tanzania. The United Republic of Tanzania is safe and secure for all the people, including foreigners living in the country and visitors. The Government, under the firm leadership of H. E Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, is keen and alert to ensure such safety and security.
